Even in the early stages of pre-season, familiar injury issues are cropping up again at Leeds United with Jesse Marsch confirming Junior Firpo is out for eight weeks – but Tottenham and Sergio Reguilon could be ideal remedy.
Following a difficult first season at Leeds, many were encouraged by Firpo’s performance in the Yorkshire side’s opening pre-season game against Blackpool. A goal and an assist in the 45 minutes he played, during the 4-0 win.
But it emerged that Firpo had not flown with the rest of the Leeds side to Australia. Now, Marsch has confirmed that the ex-Barcelona man will be out for eight weeks. Liam Cooper and Leo Hjelde have also picked up injuries.

The left-back area is a problem position for Leeds and has been for many years. So, with Firpo joining Stuart Dallas out injured, surely Leeds have to enter the transfer market? Antonio Conte might have just handed them a solution.
Firpo is out: Reguilon could be ideal remedy for Leeds
Conte decided to leave Reguilon in London when picking his Tottenham side for their pre-season tour of South Korea. He has been left behind with Harry Winks, Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso.
The 25-year-old, who was bought for £27million (Independent), is likely to go after the club signed Ivan Perisic. Sevilla are leading the race, a team that Spurs face in South Korea this weekend.
Reguilon played for Sevilla on loan from Real Madrid before his Spurs move and a return looks likely. But if Spurs would rather he remains in the Premier League and are open to a loan – surely, a move to Leeds suits both?
It suits Leeds – they sign a top-quality left-back as cover, and when he goes, Firpo and Dallas are back fit. It suits Reguilon, he can show what he can do and it suits Spurs, by putting Reguilon in the Premier League shop window.
