William Saliba has been in excellent form for Olympique Marseille this season, and the Arsenal defender has now been praised by French publication L’Equipe in a big way.
The French sport daily placed the 20-year-old on their front cover for Sunday’s issue, with the headline reading ‘Saliba – Rock Tendency’, with L’Equipe referencing how solid the defender has been for the Ligue 1 giants.
Since returning to France for a second season out on loan, Saliba has been one of Marseille’s best players. Jorge Sampoli’s side have competed well in both Ligue 1 and the UEFA Europa League.
And with fellow Arsenal loan star Matteo Guendouzi ahead of him, Saliba has formed part of a solid spine for Marseille, a base which has now been recognised by L’Equipe.
Indeed, Arsenal are undergoing something of a defensive resurgence with Ben White and Gabriel Magalhaes, supporters are buzzing about the prospect of Saliba potentially joining this group.
With the three players all under the age of 24, as well, the Gunners are more than sorted for the future in terms of centre-backs. With Saliba arguably the pick of the bunch in terms of quality and potential.
