Arsenal left-back Nuno Tavares had a bad game against Liverpool at the weekend but manager Mikel Arteta needs to keep him in the team against Newcastle United.

Liverpool hammered Arsenal 4-0 at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday.

Nuno Tavares struggled for Arsenal against Liverpool

Tavares’ really awful pass for Diogo Jota’s goal has been well documented.

The 21-year-old left-back also should have done better for the goal Mohamed Salah scored.

Arsenal manager Arteta wasn’t happy.

Give Tavares another chance

However, in our view the Spaniard shouldn’t drop him against Newcastle United this weekend.

That would really damage the youngster’s confidence.

Now, of course, we know Kieran Tierney is a better left-back than Tavares.

Most, if not all, Arsenal fans would want the Scotland international to start against Newcastle at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League.

However, we think Arteta should persevere with Tavares. Give him one more game to bounce back.

When fit and available, Tierney is a regular in the Arsenal starting line-up.

Tavares is and will be a deputy, but Arteta should at least give him a chance to recover his confidence.

The youngster, who cost Arsenal £7 million in the summer (Goal), had been playing well – until now.
