Jamie Carragher has said on Sky Sports Premier League (6:56pm, November 20, 2021) that Arsenal left-back Nuno Tavares got a wake-up call against Liverpool at Anfield tonight.
Carragher made the observation about Tavares while watching him in action for Arsenal against Liverpool in the Premier League this evening.
The former Liverpool defender was on co-commentary duty for the match on Sky Sports.
Liverpool hammered Arsenal 4-0.
Carragher said in the 70th minute: “Tavares is struggling, certainly in the second half.
“Done really well when he has filled in for Kieran Tierney up until now, but this will be a wake-up call for him.”
Nuno Tavares will get better
Tavares has been playing for Arsenal in recent weeks.
The 21-year-old left-back joined the Gunners in the summer of 2021.
The Portuguese left-back has shown his quality and potential already.
Yes, it was a bad game for Tavares tonight, but he will learn from it.
The left-back gave a blind pass to Diogo Jota for the Portugal international forward’s goal for Liverpool.
Tavares should have also done better for the goal that Mohamed Salah scored.
Liverpool are a much better and stronger team than Arsenal.
They showed that tonight.
A poor game against one of the best teams in the world does not mean that Tavares is a bad player.
In our view, the 21-year-old will learn from his performance against Liverpool and will get better.
