Mikael Silvestre compared Arsenal target Youri Tielemans to Mikel Arteta earlier this year, and January is the right time for the club to make a move.

The Belgian international has long been touted with an exit, as his contract expires in the summer.

Furthermore, several fans and pundits alike believe that the 25-year-old is well capable of playing for a club competing for Champions League football.

Currently, Leicester City are languishing in 13th place in the Premier League.

The Mirror have claimed that the league leaders plan to launch a final bid for the £25 million-rated midfielder (via Football.London) in the January transfer window.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano had also claimed (via Caught Offside) that Tielemans is “attracted” by the prospect of moving to Arsenal.

Ultimately, these revelations would have excited Gooners across the world as he would certainly be a quality addition to the midfield department.

And now, they could even be more hyped about a potential deal as Tielemans has been compared to a top Gunners player from the past they must be all too familiar with.

Mikael Silvestre likened Youri Tielemans to none other Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta while discussing the sought-after midfielder.

“Yes, I believe he has the attributes to fit into the [Arsenal] midfield. He reminds me a little bit of Mikel [Arteta], but with more of an eye eye for goal.”

“His progress since he joined Leicester and [how he] has imposed himself into the Belgian national team…definitely would be a good addition into the midfield for next season”, he told AFTV earlier this year.

The 25-year-old would be a smart addition for Arsenal

While it’s hard to decide whether Youri Tielemans’ playing style is anything like Mikel Arteta, what can be said is that he would certainly be an astute signing.

Especially in January, as barring Martin Odegaard, the club lack a creative midfielder that guarantees chance creation.

Emile Smith-Rowe has not played football for ages cue to his injury woes and Fabio Vieira is still finding his feet at the club.

As a result, wrapping up a deal for Tielemans, either in January or even in the summer would be positive business.
