Fabrizio Romano has said that both Mykhaylo Mudryk and Youri Tielemans are more ‘attracted’ than ever to sign for Arsenal, with the Gunners expected to move for the pair in the January transfer window.

Speaking to CaughtOffside, the Italian journalist revealed that the European duo are open to moving to north London, with the Mirror recently reporting that Arsenal have already made a move to sign Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk, with the winger one of the most sought-after players in football this season.

Romano said: “I’m sure both players are attracted by Arsenal, as they were in the summer and even more now. For Mudryk there are four or five clubs keen on signing him, including Arsenal. For Tielemans, it depends on conditions of free deal. Arsenal always had his name in the list but talks are not concrete yet.”

As mentioned, Arsenal’s pursuit for Tielemans is not as concrete as the Gunners’ interest in Mudryk. However, with the Leicester City star’s contract coming to an end next summer, there’s every chance that Mikel Arteta’s side swoop in for the Belgian international at the last possible second.

Sitting top of the Premier League, Arsenal are in an incredible position that very few fans or pundits would have predicted at the start of the season. And it appears that the board are ready to back Arteta and sporting director Edu Gaspar in the January window to fully solidify a title bid.

Indeed, signing a top winger and central midfielder will be key in Arsenal’s quest to win an unlikely Premier League title. And Mudryk and Tielemans both fit the profiles needed to bolster the Gunners’ squad as well as to build for the future in two key positions.

Despite being top at Christmas, many still don’t expect Arsenal to actually go on and to win the Premier League with Manchester City just ready to go on an incredible winning run at any stage. Yet signing the likes of Mudryk and Tielemans would be a big step in the right direction for the north London side.

Moreover, not winning the Premier League title won’t be a sign of a bad season, with the main goal this season from Arsenal always being to finish in the top-four and to return to the UEFA Champions League. And signing quality players to add to the squad depth will be key for Arteta’s rebuilding of the club.
