According to Corriere Dello Sport, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a move for Udinese attacker Gerard Deulofeu.
The Spanish winger is a fantastically talented footballer, but after playing for the likes of Watford and Everton it would be easy for a Spurs fan to turn their nose up at him.
However, Tottenham may be pleasantly surprised by Deulofeu if he arrives in north London this summer. After all, Pep Guardiola is a big fan of the former Barcelona man.
Indeed, Guardiola has previously spoken very highly of the winger, labelling him a ‘special player’.
What’s been said?
Guardiola was full of praise for Deulofeu ahead of a game against Everton a few years ago.
“He’s one of the best talents I’ve seen in one to one (situations), some people criticise him because of his lack of defence but he has gone a step ahead and he’s a special player,” Guardiola said.

Seal of approval
If Pep Guardiola thinks you’re a special player, you must have something about you.
Guardiola, if nothing else, is a brutally honest manager, and if he thinks Deulofeu is special, he must be an incredibly talented player.
We’ve seen glimpses of just how good he can be in the Premier League, but in a top team like Tottenham, he could reach a whole other level.
Of course, he wouldn’t be a guaranteed starter ahead of Heung-Min Son, but having a player like Deulofeu on the bench would be a very frightening prospect heading into next season.
Tottenham could be onto a winner here.
