Former Arsenal and Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud stated, in a tongue-in-cheek fashion, that he got a ‘warm reception’ from the Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry asked the AC Milan star what it felt like knocking Tottenham out of the Champions League given that he is a former Chelsea and Arsenal player.
Whilst Giroud didn’t get on the scoresheet, he did admit that the atmosphere inside the Tottenham stadium was ‘great’ and he is pleased his side progressed to the next round.

Arsenal, and even Chelsea supporters after they progressed on Tuesday night in the Champions League, would have watched on with glee as Spurs crumbled on the big stage again.
That’s another trophyless season for the north London club and what’s worse is that Arsenal could end up with the Premier League title and Chelsea with the European Cup.
At least one of them could happen, which would just rub salt in the wounds for Antonio Conte’s men, as Giroud was asked by Henry about returning to London, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (08/03/23 at 10:50 pm).
“You know I have to ask you that ex-Arsenal and ex-Chelsea, how much did you enjoy that one,” asked Henry.
Giroud responded: “It means a lot to me. I receive a nice warm welcome here from the fans. As an ex-Gunner, it always feels good to win at Tottenham. It was a great atmosphere. We expected that.
“For me, it was a special night. I wish I could score. But being through it is the most important.”

TOTTENHAM FANS SHOW THEIR DISCONTENT
The atmosphere inside the Spurs stadium might have been vocal during the early stages, but as the game wore on, it was the Milan fans vocally jumping with joy.
With Tottenham shooting themselves in the foot again and producing a disgraceful performance, the home fans made their feelings clear on that matter.
The boos could be heard loud and clear after the game, whilst there were also chants for a certain Mauricio Pochettino, with Antonio Conte, Daniel Levy and ENIC coming under serious fire.
