So far, Yves Bissouma has not had an ideal start to life at Tottenham Hotspur since his move in the summer.

Starting a mere 6 games in the Premier League, while only coming off the bench in the Champions League, the former Brighton midfielder is yet to cement his place in the side.

Earlier on in the season, Antonio Conte had admitted that the 26-year old was a ‘step behind’ in comparison to the rest of his teammates and had a ‘lot of space for improvement’.

While the highly-rated midfielder has been showing signs of improvement recently, he drew tons of criticism for his uninspiring display against Nottingham Forest as Tottenham suffered a 2-0 defeat on Wednesday night.

As Spurs were eliminated out of the Carabao Cup as early as in the Third Round, Jamie O’Hara singled out Yves Bissouma for his poor performance, as well as his failure to get to grips with life at the club.

“Bissouma for me, I don’t know what you think about Bissouma, Dave [live caller] but the player we signed from Brighton ain’t the player that’s turned up at Tottenham, that’s for sure”, he told talkSPORT.

When it was stated that the Malian international has not been handed enough starts for his new club, O’Hara interjected by saying, “But Dave, as a football player, you know that you might not start every week. When you get an opportunity, you’ve got to take it! You’ve got to have confidence in yourself.”

“And you go, ‘right, now’s my chance. Carabao Cup, I’m going to get an opportunity, I’m going to show the gaffer what I’m about tonight.’ And you [Bissouma] come out and you put in a performance like that.”

“Then what do you expect, you’re going to be sat on the bench!”

The hope for Tottenham fans remains that Yves Bissouma settles into his surroundings as quickly as possible and proves why he was one of the division’s most in-demand midfielders during his time at Brighton.
