Steve McManaman has said on BT Sport 1 (2:58pm, March 12, 2022) that Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has not been at his best for a while.
The former Liverpool star believes that Salah’s standards have dropped since his return from the Africa Cup of Nations.
McManaman made the comments about the Liverpool forward after watching him in action against Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Jurgen Klopp’s side won 2-0.
Egypt international forward Salah scored from the penalty spot.
McManaman said about Salah: “Funnily enough, I don’t think he has been playing that well of late since he has come back from Africa Cup of nations by his lofty standards. I don’t think he was great today necessarily.”

Mohamed Salah a world-class player for Liverpool
In our view, Salah is a world-class footballer and arguably the best important player for Liverpool.
As McManaman notes, the former Chelsea star has not exactly been at his imperious best in recent weeks, but we have no doubt that Salah remains as important as ever to the Reds.
Salah has scored 20 goals and provided 10 assists in the Premier League for Liverpool so far this season.
The 29-year-old has found the back of the net as many as eight times in the Champions League for the Merseyside club this campaign.
For Liverpool to win the Premier League and the Champions League this season, we think that Salah will have to stay on top of his game.
