West Ham United have turned down the chance to sign Odsonne Edouard from Celtic in the summer transfer window, according to The Express.
What’s the story?
The Express have reported that West Ham have turned down the chance to sign a number of strikers this summer.
Tammy Abraham, who moved to AS Roma from Chelsea this summer, Alassane Plea and Luuk de Jong are the strikers the Hammers have turned down.
West Ham have also decided that they do not need to sign Celtic striker Edouard, according to the report.
Why?
Well, the report has suggested that it is because West Ham have Michail Antonio.
Michail Antonio heroics
Antonio is not a ‘natural’ striker and was playing as a winger and right-back before he got the chance to play upfront.
The 31-year-old has been superb for West Ham as a striker and scored two goals against Leicester City in the Premier League last night.
The former Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest man has now scored 49 goals in the Premier League for the Hammers.

Former Manchester United star Gary Neville was impressed by Antonio and admitted that he did not expect him to play as a striker.
Neville said on Sky Sports Premier League (10:03pm, August 23, 2021): “I remember when I was with England with Roy Hodgson. We looked at him as a right-back, he played right-back at West Ham at times, as a right wing-back.
“I never thought for one second he is going to end up being this presence that he is now in the Premier League as a forward. Absolutely brilliant.”
