While Karl Hein was largely untested, he came up trumps by keeping out Brahim Diaz’s penalty.

Looked rusty upon his action in an Arsenal shirt, as he contributed little to nothing in his 45 minutes on the pitch. Taken off at half-time, as the game seemed purely to get Ben White back to match fitness.
Rob Holding: 6
The Englishman was faultless when called into action on a night where he was largely untroubled.
Gabriel Magalhaes: 6
Gabriel was solid as a rock at the back and came up clutch with a number of well-timed challenges. Sat the AC Milan shotstopper down with a delayed and coolly executed penalty. Lost Fikayo Tomori for Milan’s consolation goal.
Kieran Tierney: 5
For a left-back renowned for his attacking prowess, Kieran Tierney was uncharacteristically quiet on the night.
Thomas Partey: 8
Thomas Partey showed little to no signs of rustiness, as his defensive work was typically top-drawer and he was largely flawless on a relatively easy night for him. Sloppy on a handful of occasions but overall, Partey put yet another top shift in.
Albert Sambi Lokonga: 7
Albert Sambi Lokonga is clearly not a No.6 and looked closer to his best self in a more advanced role, carrying the ball, getting into the final third and linking play efficiently.
Martin Odegaard: 8
The Arsenal skipper struck a stunning free-kick to fire his side into the lead, which was perhaps the headline of the night. Throughout the night, Odegaard effortlessly dictated play and looked like he was playing with slippers on at one point. That was how easy things seemed for the Norwegian captain.
Fabio Vieira: 7
The Portuguese attacker’s assist was nothing short of brilliant, as he retained possession, before waiting to slip through Reiss Nelson, who put away the chance. What was impressive about Fabio Vieira’s display was how he was constantly involved, both on the ball and in a defensive sense as well, especially in terms of winning back the ball.
Eddie Nketiah: 7
The Englishman who was recently praised by Oleksandr Zinchenko (via Sky Sports) showed signs that he could replace Gabriel Jesus with aplomb, as he constantly ran the channels, held the ball up and pressed up top. A truly selfless display from Eddie Nketiah against the Serie A champions.
Reiss Nelson: 7
Reiss Nelson was slightly fortunate that his deflected effort ended up in the back of the net. But the silky winger deserved a slice of luck for his energetic display, as he was always eager to make things happen on the left flank and was perhaps one of the best players on the pitch.

Cedric: 5
Solid at the back when brought on in the second half. The Spanish right-back dispatched his spot-kick with aplomb.
Mohamed Elneny: 6
The Egyptian midfielder was a calming presence in posession, spraying passes across the pitch for fun upon his introduction. Elneny also thumped his penalty into the top corner, showing no signs of nerves whatsoever.
Marquinhos: N/A
Slotted his penalty right in the bottom corner, which made it impossible to stop, despite the opposition goalkeeper going the right way.

Unfortunately for the gifted youngster, his tame penalty was kept at bay by Tatarusanu.
