Popular bookmakers SkyBET have installed the Saints as the new favourites in the race to sign former player Luke Shaw, with his future at Old Trafford growing increasingly more uncertain by the day.
The 22-year-old left St Mary’s to join up with the Red Devils in the summer of 2014, for a fee believed to be in the region of £27 million, but his time in Manchester has been shrouded in disappointment.
Injuries have played their part in his struggles at the Theatre of Dreams, that much is certain, but even when he has been fully fit he has failed to impress Jose Mourinho, and finds himself playing a peripheral role within the squad.

Despite Shaw’s struggles, he undoubtedly still has a lot to offer at the very highest level, and he would be a sound signing for the south coast outfit.
Whether they can beat the likes of Spurs to his signature though, remains to be seen.
