Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son were one of the deadliest partnerships in the Premier League last season, but we’re yet to see much of them on the pitch together this season.
Indeed, Harry Kane took a little while to get back into the team after his gruelling Euro 2020 campaign, and we’re yet to see the best of him and Son in the same team this term.
However, under Nuno Espirito Santo, there’s reason to believe that their partnership could become even more deadly.
Indeed, Alasdair Gold has recently stated that the new manager sees Son as a number nine, more akin to Cristiano Ronaldo, rather than a wide player.
“Nuno sees Son as a striker, whereas Mourinho didn’t,” said Gold.
“I think there’s a feeling among Nuno and Paratici that, a little bit like Ronaldo – I’m not saying he’s like Ronaldo – but in terms of the positional movement, they feel that Son, could if he wanted, move from being a wide player to being a more through the middle player,” he added.
Son playing as part of a front two with Kane is a frightening prospect.

The South Korean would be able to use that positional movement that Gold speaks about to find space in behind and if he’s playing as a central striker he’ll have more opportunities to use his movement to get into goalscoring areas.
Son playing as more of a focal point will allow Kane to flex his playmaking muscles even more, and we saw last season just how good the England captain can be in terms of creating chances.
Of course, if Son moves to play in a front two with Kane, there’s the question of where the width would come from, but if you watched Nuno’s Wolves, you’ll know that the wing-backs can provide so much attacking threat.
Kane and Son’s partnership could become even more deadly if Nuno moves Son into a number nine spot on a permanent basis.
