Micah Richards has praised Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson on Match of the Day on BBC One (10:47pm, November 27, 2021).
The former Manchester City right-back believes that Robertson sent a message to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp with his performance against Southampton.
The Scotland international left-back started ahead of Kostas Tsimikas against the Saints.
Robertson provided an assist and was a problem for the Southampton defence throughout.
Liverpool won 4-0.
Micah Richards gives Andy Robertson verdict
Richards said on Match of the Day on BBC One (10:47pm, November 27, 2021): “Tsimikas has played outstandingly well, but Robertson showed today why he is number one. Everything in his game was just brilliant.”
The BBC pundit added: “This was a performance to say, ‘Look, I am still one of the best defenders in the league’. He doesn’t stop.”

Andy Robertson remains Liverpool no. 1
Tsimikas has done well this season when he has got the chance for Liverpool.
Liverpool manager Klopp himself has publicly said that.
However, in our opinion, Robertson remains the best left-back at Liverpool.
Some would argue that the 27-year-old is the best left-back in the Premier League.

We saw against Southampton just how good Robertson is.
The Liverpool no. 26 gave as many as four key passes and put in four crosses.
Now, of course, Liverpool need a capable back-up.
After all, Robertson has had injury problems and will also need rest from time to time.
In Tsimikas, Klopp now has a perfect back-up at left-back.
