Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told The Liverpool Echo that Kostas Tsimikas has saved him when Andy Robertson has been injured.

Klopp has praised the Liverpool left-back.

The Liverpool manager is pleased with the progress of the 25-year-old and is happy that he has been able to fill in for Robertson.

The Scotland international left-back has had injury problems this season, but Tsimikas has filled in nicely.

Jurgen Klopp praises Kostas Tsimikas

Klopp told The Liverpool Echo: “He’s pushing but I don’t see it as pushing in that sense.

“Robbo is Robbo and Robbo, it’s a bit strange that people constantly forget how good Robbo is in these moments just because Kostas is good as well.

“Thank god he is good as well, imagine that, we’d have a proper problem there.

“It’s much better than it was before when we had no real solution and Milly had to play there, which he did exceptionally well.  Now we have different solutions, it’s good.”

Kostas Tsimikas now a threat for Andy Robertson

Liverpool star Robertson is one of the best left-backs in the world.

We have no doubt about that.

However, in our view, Tsimikas is now a genuine threat for the former Hull City man.

It has taken the Greece international a while to settle into life in the Premier League and to make an impression on the Liverpool fans.

But now the £60,000-per-week (Spotrac) 25-year-old is playing well.

The Liverpool no. 21 has made four starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League so far this season.

Tsimikas has provided one assist in those games.

The 25-year-old has given one assist in two Carabao Cup ties and has played twice in the Champions League for Liverpool this campaign.
