Thierry Henry has provided a brutal jibe towards Tottenham Hotspur that they are ‘nowhere near anything’ as usual after Clint Dempsey once again backed them to be the ‘dark horses’ of the 2022/23 Champions League.

The former USA international added by saying ‘everything is still to play for’ because Tottenham are also third in the Premier League table.

That’s when Henry fired his shots and shared that he’s not even excited about Arsenal being top of the Premier League, so why would he think anything about where Spurs are, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (26/10/22 at 7:40 pm).

During Henry’s days, Arsenal were always the dominant force, but in recent times, things have started to change.

North London hasn’t cooked as hot as it’s cooking now, on both ends, with Arsenal top on 28 points from 11 games and Spurs third on 23 points from 12.

Either way, before the tournament kicked off, Dempsey backed his former side to be a possible surprise package in the Champions League, he repeated those comments again last night and this is what Henry had to say.

“I am staying with them,” said Dempsey about previously picking Tottenham as dark horses. “They are third in the Premier League and everything still to play for.”

Henry responded: “Do I need to comment on that? I didn’t get excited about Arsenal being first. How am I going to comment on Tottenham being where they are usually? Well, nowhere near anything.”

TOTTENHAM COULD DROP TO THE EUROPA LEAGUE

Well, it was a drama-filled day for Tottenham in the Champions League on Wednesday night when they saw a last-gasp winner against Sporting Lisbon ruled out for offside.

There were jubilant scenes when Harry Kane fired that goal in because it sent Antonio Conte’s side through to the knockout stages.

But now, they have to go to Marseille next week knowing that if they lose, and either Frankfurt or Sporting win, then they will have to drop down to the Europa League.

Mikel Arteta’s side have already reached the knockout stages of that competition, and with Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Juventus also entering after their Champions League failures, then things could become pretty tasty in the Europa League after the 2022 World Cup.
