Arsenal fans have reacted on Twitter to Takehiro Tomiyasu’s claim about joining the North London outfit and labelling them a ‘global big club’, as quoted by Goal.
On one hand, Arsenal supporters think it shows how much pull they still have in their current struggles that they can sign a much-wanted player, who joined from Bologna on deadline day, as reported by the Independent.
But others think that they have lost their shine over the years because of their on-field stagnation, and you can’t blame the supporters for being so deflated.
The Gunners are sitting bottom of the Premier League table, on zero points after three games, nine goals conceded and zero goals scored.
This is decades and decades worth of unwanted records being shattered after three games of the new season.
But still, Tomiyasu had a lot of good things to say about his new club.
“I feel that the team has changed and it is a new star,” said Tomiyasu. “The Premier League is the stage I was originally aiming for, and I am happy to join Arsenal, a global, big club.
“I’m grateful that I was able to talk to the [Japanese] association and the director and go to Europe to transfer, because without it I wouldn’t have been able to do it.”
Mikel Arteta is the man under severe pressure in the capital and he surely can’t survive if they lose to Norwich after the international break.
The Spanish coach is probably lucky that he has survived this far because he could have been handed his P45 on a number of occasions last season.
But, according to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have no immediate plans to replace him with Antonio Conte despite Arteta being under huge pressure.
If Arteta does part ways with the club then it’s going to be interesting to see, in their current troubles, how much pull they have because, in the transfer market, they aren’t going for the Jadon Sancho’s or Jack Grealish’s for obvious reason.
So, will the same apply for any new man they wanted to be appointed to their dugout?
Nonetheless, here is a selection of Arsenal fans react to what they are hearing from Tomiyasu:
