Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta may be under huge pressure as things stand, but there are no immediate plans to replace him with Italian Antonio Conte.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims that there is no agreement in place for Conte to become the next Arsenal boss any time soon.

There had seemingly been suggestions that Conte would be Arsenal bound, but Romano claims that just isn’t the case at all.

Romano adds quotes from agent and Conte’s friend Federico Pastorello, simply stating that a pre-deal with Arsenal has not been agreed.

Arteta desperately needs results; from three Premier League games, Arsenal have three defeats, no goals scored and nine goals conceded.

The 5-0 thrashing at Manchester City before the international break was a grimly predictable debacle, and The Telegraph claimed before that game that Arteta had just five games to save his job with Stan and Josh Kroenke surely getting a little impatient.

Conte was talked up as a potential replacement, though why on earth would he be interested in going to Arsenal any time soon?

Conte is out of work after leaving Inter Milan at the end of last season, walking away after bringing the Serie A title back to the San Siro.

The Italian hunts trophies, and Arsenal don’t look like being in a position to win one any time soon; he isn’t a manager for a long-term project.

A move just doesn’t seem to make sense outside of Arsenal simply targeting the biggest name out there, and it’s no surprise to see the rumours shot down already.
