The new Cardiff City boss has admitted he wanted the Forest job in the summer.

It was the club he wanted, apparently, only to be overlooked by Nottingham Forest chairman Fawaz Al-Hasawi.
Instead, Neil Warnock has taken the reins at second from bottom Championship side Cardiff City, as Philippe Montanier struggles in the City Ground hotseat.
How these two – Forest and Warnock – have not come together yet is anyone’s guess, they’ve been displaying those come to bed eyes for years.

But at 67 years old – in hindsight, that perhaps wasn’t the best metaphor to use – the chances are it may never happen.
As ever with Warnock, his comments to Talksport on Friday have divided opinion. Some Forest fans would have loved him in charge – many reluctantly – while others are happy to keep their distance.

Here’s how they reacted on Twitter:
Funnily enough, Warnock brings his new side to the City Ground at the end of this month in what will be his third game in charge.
With Forest on 12 points and seemingly on a downward spiral, the Bluebirds (eight points) may well be above them by then.
