RB Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff has issued a transfer message on star midfielder Christopher Nkunku, who is reportedly wanted by both Arsenal and Manchester City.

Speaking on Sky90 via GGFN, the Bundesliga official revealed his confidence that Nkunku will stay with the east German side for next season despite the Frenchman’s incredible goalscoring form and interest from the Premier League.

Nkunku has hit an astonishing 18 goals and 13 assists in all competitions this campaign, including a hat-trick in the UEFA Champions League against Pep Guardiola’s City, who retain an interest in the midfielder along with Arsenal.

Bild reported last summer that the north London club were keen on Nkunku, who came close to signing for the Gunners in January 2019 under Unai Emery when the midfielder was with PSG as per BBC Sport, with Arsenal instead signing Denis Suarez on loan.

As for City, Bild also report via Goal that the Manchester giants have an interest in the Bundesliga star. Yet according to Leipzig’s CEO, Nkunku is not moving anywhere this summer for the time being.

Mintzlaff said: “We don’t have many players who can leave us in the summer. We want to strengthen the team rather than weaken it. Nkunku will play with us next season. Of course, nothing is certain in football but that’s our plan.”

Arsenal and City could face major competition for Nkunku

With 18 goals from midfield, Nkunku is having an outstanding season for the Bundesliga side. And whilst Leipzig’s CEO has denied a move this summer, the 24-year-old’s form could make it hard for the club to reject big-money offers for the Frenchman.

Indeed, Nkunku has been one of the German top-flight’s best players this season. And if his goalscoring record increased more this campaign, Leipzig could be forced into selling their star midfielder, with Arsenal and City likely not the only ones keen on the player.
