Michael Owen has stated on Twitter that he’s ‘not sure’ about the claims that Manchester City won’t try to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham if they land Jack Grealish’s signature.
It has been a bit of a whirlwind few days involving Tottenham, Villa and Manchester City, as they dominate the 2021 summer transfer window.
From a £100 million offer seemingly being tabled to Villa for Grealish to Kane not turning up for Tottenham training for two days in a row, as reported by Sky Sports.
It seems as though this transfer saga is going to drag on and on, but it’s not long before that August 31 deadline.
The Manchester Evening News did previously suggest that Grealish possibly moving to the Etihad would end Kane’s hopes of joining his England teammate in Manchester.
Owen doesn’t think that’s the case and, if he had to pick between the two to move, he thinks it’s obvious that Kane is needed more than the ball-carrying expert.
Manchester City may as well be handed the Premier League title if they get their hands on both Kane and Grealish.
It’s pretty ridiculous that such deals are allowed to happen because it would well and truly kill the competition in England’s top-flight.
Those at the Etihad won the Premier League title last season and reached their first Champions League final.
Imagine if they had a season like Liverpool, who struggled for large parts of the campaign? God knows who they would have signed or how much they would have tried to spend then!
