Premier League outfit Leeds United have not yet made a bid for Trabzonspor captain Ugurcan Cakir, the Turkey international’s agent tells Ajansspor.
Whether that changes, over the next few weeks and months, remains to be seen.
Cakir, Trabzonspor’s £17 million-rated goalkeeper, has reportedly been contacted by Leeds regarding a potential summer move to Elland Road. But it’s hard to imagine Cakir arriving, for a princely sum, unless Illan Meslier headed for the exit first.
After all, £17 million is a lot to spend on a back-up goalkeeper. Especially for a Leeds side clearly in need of reinforcements in a number of different areas, particularly up front, in midfield and in both full-back positions.

“We have not received any offers from the English team Leeds United so far,” says Necdet Cakir, the 25-year-old’s brother and agent.
Will Leeds or Newcastle United sign a new goalkeeper?
Cakir has also been linked with nouveau-riche Newcastle recently.
And St James’ Park certainly feels like a more realistic destination than Elland Road for a brilliant young goalkeeper on the brink of captaining Trabzonspor to their first Super Lig title since the 1980s.
Newcastle are reportedly scouring the market for a new number one, despite already boasting two Premier League shot-stoppers in Martin Dubravka and Karl Darlow.
The Tynesiders are watching Kepa Arrizabalaga, Bernd Leno and Manchester United’s Dean Henderson.

According to The Sun, Newcastle are planning to test the waters with a £20 million bid for Brighton’s Robert Sanchez too.
The once-capped Spain international, a flamboyant, front-foot glovesman who’s impressive distribution could help ease Newcastle’s transition towards a move possession-based style of football, is Eddie Howe’s number one target.
Benfica’s Odysseas Vlachodimos was also quizzed about a move to the North East by Kicker this week. He distanced himself from those claims, however, before Tuesday’s 3-1 Champions League defeat to Liverpool.
