Frank Lampard endured a miserable afternoon as he watched his Everton side receiving another thumping at the hands of Bournemouth, this time in Premier League action.
The Toffees suffered a 4-1 defeat to the Cherries on Tuesday in the Carabao Cup, and went on to lose 3-0 against Gary O’Neil’s men to slip to within just one point of the relegation zone.
Understandably, the travelling Everton fans were livid after seeing their side ship seven goals to Bournemouth across a matter of days, and the BBC have now detailed what happened after full-time.
Lampard under pressure at Everton
Well, Everton’s relatively impressive start to the campaign has now totally fizzled out, with the atmosphere turning toxic.
As detailed in the BBC‘s live blog from today’s action, Lampard was seen walking over the applaud the Everton fans at the Vitality Stadium after full-time today, although the 44-year-old was not exactly welcomed in that corner.
The BBC claim that Everton fans were “not having it one bit” – police officers even had to step in between the supporters and Lampard, as tensions spilled over.
Sky Sports have shared footage of the moment, which you can see below.
It was Everton’s seventh defeat in 15 Premier League games so far this season, with only three wins to show for their efforts.
The Toffees have also scored just 11 goals in those 15 outings, with only Wolves – who sit bottom of the table – netting fewer with eight strikes.
Who Everton could replace Lampard with
Unfortunately, it is not a great time to sack a manager, given the lack of options out there.
We do now have a break for the World Cup, which gives Everton a bit of breathing room to make a decision, although Farhad Moshiri and Bill Kenwright may struggle to find someone.

Sean Dyche is currently unemployed, while Marcelo Bielsa is also free to be hired.
Everton could also turn to Scott Parker, Bruno Lage or Ralph Hasenhuttl, who has just been sacked by Southampton.
There are few outstanding options, but with the Toffees teetering above the relegation zone, a tough decision may have to be taken during the World Cup break.
