Roy Keane said on Sky Sports Football (4:21pm, April 11, 2021) that he does not think that Tottenham Hotspur star Eric Dier is a good central defender.

Keane made the comments about Dier in the build-up to the Premier League game between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium today.

Dier, who can also operate as a midfielder, started in defence, as the Red Devils won 3-1.

Before the game, former United midfielder Keane said that striker Edinson Cavani was going to be a handful for Dier, and made it clear that he does not rate him as a defender.

Keane said on Sky Sports Football (4:21pm, April 11, 2021): “I certainly don’t see him as a centre-half. To me, he is not good enough.”

Did Eric Dier prove Roy Keane wrong?

Dier has not been a regular in the Tottenham first team in recent weeks, but the 27-year-old England international started against United.

The defender made a good block to deny Marcus Rashford, but he could have done better for the ‘goal’ from Cavani that was eventually ruled out after VAR check.

Dier did not look particular great in the second half, as he had moments when he could have cost the team. It was a disappointing performance overall from the Englishman.
