Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United faced each other in the Premier League at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium today.

It was quite a good game to watch, and, as usual these days, there was VAR controversy.

Edinson Cavani had the ball in the back of the net in the first half, but after a VAR check, it was ruled out.

With the match goalless at the time, Cavani raced through on goal and fired the ball past Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

However, it was adjudged that Scott McTominay had committed a foul on Son Heung-min in the build-up to the goal.

The United midfielder did catch the South Korea international forward in the face, but it did not appear to be much and did not seem ‘unnatural’.

Clinton Morrison was following the match for BBC Sport, and the former Crystal Palace forward was far from impressed by the decision.

The BBC pundit said that based on the decision that the goal was ruled out, McTominay should have actually been sent off as well.

Morrison said on BBC Sport (5:08pm, April 11, 2021): “No way is that a foul. He’s caught him but I don’t think VAR will look at that. You have to carry on. It’s great movement from Cavani and a lovely finish.

“If he doesn’t give the goal, he has to book McTominay. He has to give him a yellow. In theory he should be sending him off. I can’t believe this. As the player, you have to use your arms to run forward.”

That disallowed goal did not affect United in the end, as the Red Devils won the Premier League match 3-1.
