Clinton Morrison told Sky Sports News (28/08/21 at 1:30 pm) that Moussa Sissoko is ‘perfect’ for Watford after his departure from Tottenham.

On Friday, Sissoko was signing on the dotted line for Watford and then on Sunday, he was locking horns with his former Spurs teammates.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side recorded a 1-0 win against the newly-promoted team, with Sissoko starting the game and impressing his new supporters.

The 32-year-old’s departure was right for all parties because he wasn’t going to get the game time he craved in North London.

Former Palace striker Morrison thinks Sissoko is a Watford-type player, as he made it clear that it’s ‘not being disrespectful’ to the hard-hitting midfielder.

“They have brought in Sissoko from Watford, I think that’s a decent signing,” said Morrison.

“He is perfect for them. He is a Watford kind of player. That’s not being disrespectful to Sissoko because he served Tottenham with many good years.

“But I think he will break-up attacks. Drive up the midfield and he will prove to be a very good signing.”

When Sissoko first joined Spurs from Newcastle in 2016, he arrived as a goalscoring wide man that has just been relegated with the Magpies.

And even though Spurs were thriving and ripping it up under Mauricio Pochettino, it just wasn’t happening for Sissoko.

He struggled for large parts of his Spurs career until the last 18 or so months of Pochettino’s reign.

That’s when Spurs started to decline and were at their worst, yet Sissoko was perhaps one of the best players for the club.

He didn’t get the game time under Jose Mourinho, nor was he going to get it under Nuno, so it was the right thing for him to move on this summer.
