Bayern Munich’s Sporting Director has hinted that Arsenal target Jerome Boateng could yet get a new deal at the Bundesliga club despite reports stating that he’s set to leave once his current contract expires.

The German has recently stated that he was surprised to see reports linking him with a move away from Munich, and it seems as though he may well end up staying.

Speaking to Sky Germany, Hasan Salihamidzic made it clear that no concrete decision has been made yet, hinting that he could yet stay at the club.

“We all know that Jerome has a contract until June 30th, 2021 and we will talk to Jerome and his management at a reasonable time and make a fair decision for everyone,” Salihamidzic told Sky Germany.

“This is not an issue for us at the moment.”

This is a bit of a surprising turn of events.

Bild seemed very confident that Boateng would be allowed to leave when they reported the news last week, but it seems as though that may not be the case.

Boateng seemed shocked by the reports and now Salihamidzic has said that the club will speak to the defender and make a decision at a later date.

Yes, Boateng could still end up leaving on a free, after all, he’s said he’s after a new challenge, but these comments make it seem as though his departure isn’t a done deal.

This situation could be set for a complete U-turn as it was originally thought that Boateng was as good as gone at the Allianz Arena, but it seems as though he could now end up staying.

Unfortunately, for the club’s that had shown an interest in Boateng, it looks as though his Bayern exit isn’t as certain as first thought.

This is certainly one to keep an eye on in the coming months.
