Sport Bild have revealed that Jerome Boateng is set to leave Bayern Munich when his contract at the Allianz Arena comes to an end this season.
The German centre-back will therefore be available on a free transfer and that has pricked the ears of a number of Premier League sides.
Arsenal are one team looking at Boateng, while the report also states that Jose Mourinho has been keeping an eye on his situation with a view to bringing him in at Tottenham.
Boateng would certainly add some much-needed experience to Spurs’ backline after the departure of Jan Vertonghen at the end of last season, but signing him may not be too straightforward.
The centre-back is wanted by both north London clubs, and this may be a transfer war for the ages if the Gunners and Spurs are to tussle for Boateng’s signature.
Of course, due to Boateng being based abroad, negotiations can begin with him in early 2021 as the parties can agree a pre-contract agreement, and if Spurs are serious about bringing him in, they may want to move early.

This wouldn’t be Boateng’s first time in the Premier League, he had a rather underwhelming spell at Manchester City earlier in his career, before developing into a World Cup and Champions League winning centre-half.
At the age of 32, there are questions to be asked about whether or not he’s good enough anymore, but it seems as though both Tottenham and Arsenal are willing to take a punt on him.
This is certainly a story to keep an eye on in the coming months.
