Stewart Robson has warned Tottenham against signing Clement Lenglet from Barcelona by claiming that he ‘hasn’t looked like a top-class player’ for a number of years at the Nou Camp, as he told ESPN.

The former Arsenal player added that he can’t see Lenglet improving Tottenham’s backline ahead of a potential transfer this summer.

Spurs have been pretty busy in the market, their most recent transfer deal was Richarlison making a £60 million move from Everton.

The Brazil international was the fourth name to have been added by Antonio Conte, as Lenglet is seemingly set to travel to London ahead of a medical.

Whilst Lenglet won’t be a permanent transfer like Richarlison, he would make a loan move in the region of £4.31 million, as Robson shared his thoughts on the potential signing.

“There is talk of Lenglet going to Spurs, to play in that back three,” said Robson. “I am not sure. That Lenglet over the last couple of years at Barcelona hasn’t looked like a top-class player.

“I don’t think he is going to improve Spurs if he does go there.”

KULUSEVSKI AND BENTANCUR PROOF THAT LENGLET CAN TURN THINGS AROUND IN NORTH LONDON

When Kulusevski and Bentancur arrived in January from Juventus, those two weren’t exactly riding a wave and there would have been question marks over their moves.

Both had faltered in Serie A and they weren’t living up to expectations, but a bit of Conte magic soon changed that as they played a huge part in the club securing Champions League football.

Perhaps Lenglet could go down the same road as those two, perhaps they are examples that the 27-year-old can turn things around in north London.

Conte is known to get the absolute maximum out of players and if Lenglet moves to Spurs, then he will be hoping for that re-boot and change of direction in his career.
