Leeds United have had something of a quiet international break, but there has been a little bit of news coming out of Elland Road this week.
Indeed, U23s star Charlie Cresswell has just signed a new deal that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2023, a one year extension on his previous terms that ran until 2022.
21-year-old Pascal Struijk has joined Cresswell by also signing a new contract.
It’s clear that Leeds want to secure the futures of their brightest young talents, and the next player in line to get a new deal should be Nohan Kenneh.
Kenneh is yet to make his first-team debut at Leeds, but much like Cresswell, his current deal only runs until 2022, and he’s a very highly rated teenager.
PSG have previously been interested in him, and he’s been described as one of the greatest talents of his generation, showing exactly why the Whites must tie him down to a longer deal.
He also seems like the perfect player to blossom under Marcelo Bielsa.
In an interview with Focus On Leeds, Kenneh described himself as an ‘aggressive and hard-working’ player, while also stating that his footballing idol is none other than Leeds’ star man Kalvin Phillips.
Phillips’ recent injury issues have shown just how important it is for Leeds to have a backup in that anchor-man position, and it seems as though Kenneh could be that man, as he’s previously stated that he’s studied Patrick Vieira’s game in order to learn some of the qualities from his game.
Everything you hear about Kenneh hints that he’s a star in the making, and with Leeds seemingly keen on securing the futures of their young talents, they need to make sure the 17-year-old is next in line to get a new deal.
This has to be Victor Orta’s top contract priority.
