Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea beat Leicester City at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup on Sunday, and one player is hitting the headlines.
Raheem Sterling has not been great for Chelsea this season, and the former Manchester City attacking player had a mixed time against Leicester City in the FA Cup quarter-final tie.
The £50 million (BBC Sport) England international provided an assist, but he also failed to convert a penalty and missed a good chance. Some Chelsea fans booed the 29-year-old as well.
TalkSPORT presenter Jeff Stelling has criticised those who are hammering Sterling and has noted that the Englishman never gives up trying.
Jeff Stelling comments on Chelsea attacker Raheem Sterling
Stelling said on talkSPORT (6:28 am, March 18, 2024) about Chelsea fans booing Sterling: “I don’t know. I have no idea. Yeah, he had a nightmare, and you know what about Raheem Sterling?

“He missed the penalty, then he missed a one-on-one, does he hide? No, he doesn’t. He immediately creates the goal for Cole Palmer that puts them two goals to the good.
“Nobody mentions that. It’s all about his misses. He never ever stops trying his socks off.”
My View: Raheem Sterling has to consider his Chelsea future
In my opinion, Raheem Sterling has to look at his options in the summer transfer window. I am not saying that the 29-year-old should leave Chelsea at the end of the season, but at least he has to consider it.
It has not worked out for Sterling at Chelsea. He was a star at Manchester City, and when he moved to Stamford Bridge, he was at the top of his game.
Sterling has scored eight goals and given 10 assists in 36 matches in all competitions for Chelsea this season.
During the 2022-23 season, Sterling, who can play as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, scored nine goals and provided four assists in 38 competitive games for the Blues.
Sterling is not the player he was at City, and I am not sure if it is going to click for the former Liverpool star at Chelsea.
