Getting booed by your own supporters is one tough pill to swallow and Raheem Sterling had to go through just that during Chelsea’s FA Cup win over Leicester City on Sunday.
Look, things aren’t rosy in the Chelsea garden anyway. For the second season running, the team has been abject, and when they do win, they make life difficult for themselves.
Raheem Sterling did just that as he had a performance to forget yesterday, including missing a first-half penalty, which he took off regular taker, Cole Palmer.
Since that moment, he was booed by the Chelsea fans inside Stamford Bridge and he made matters worse by blazing a free-kick to the moon in the second half.
The England international then took to Instagram and apologised for his penalty miss, but Cole Palmer was having none of it.
The summer signing, alongside many of the Chelsea players, were keen to support Raheem Sterling in the comments section of his Instagram post by telling him that he shouldn’t be apologising.

‘My brother,’ added with a heart emoji from Palmer. ‘___ happens. No need to apologise, gg.’
Noni Madueke sent a similar message by telling Sterling: ‘Bro, no need to apologise. We appreciate you, g’.
Ben Chilwell added: ‘It’s football, it happens. We all appreciate you, brother.’

Will Raheem Sterling leave Chelsea?
Sources have told HITC Football that Sterling doesn’t have a future at the club ahead of the summer transfer window.
Let’s be honest, that transfer from Manchester City just hasn’t worked out and it is a move he is now probably regretting.
Not only did Man City go on and win the Treble after he left, but he is also now out of the picture for England.
Sterling has been left out of Gareth Southgate’s latest England squad and it’s highly unlikely he earns that ticket for Euro 2024.
