Trevor Sinclair has claimed that ‘no wonder’ Tottenham are trying to sign Anthony Gordon from Everton because he is ‘already proven to be a top player’, as he posted on Twitter.
Tottenham are trying to bulk up their squad as they return to Champions League football next season and there has been a lot of talk around them wanting to sign Richarlison.
Well, he isn’t the only one on the club’s radar because those in the north London boardroom are trying an ambitious move for Everton’s academy product, Gordon.
Whilst the Toffees might be resigned to losing Richarlison, especially given their financial state, it might not be so easy trying to lure 21-year-old Gordon to Hotspur Way.
But, all of this talk isn’t a surprise to Sinclair, who thinks Gordon proved his worth in the colours of his boyhood club last season.
“Anthony already proved he’s a top player last season and at such a young age,” said Sinclair. “No wonder he’s on other clubs’ radar.”

During a season of turmoil, a certain manager not being liked, injuries, reds cards, inability to defend set-pieces, and woeful away record, Gordon was a rare shining light for the club.
The England U21 international had been on the Premier League radar before, but this was his breakthrough moment and the time he shone brightest.
It says even more about the player because he did it in pretty difficult circumstances, when Rafa Benitez was sacked, the youngster took his game to another level under Frank Lampard.
Gordon’s aggressive nature, speed on the ball, directness and never-say-die attitude played a part in his boyhood club surviving relegation.
But Everton fans won’t take too kindly if those in the Goodison Park boardroom allow the sale of one of their own because they don’t have much to shout about.
