Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after seeing an Instagram exchange between Renato Sanches and Gabriel Magalhães.

What’s the story?

Well, the pair were chatting on Instagram, as they know each other well.

Sanches and Gabriel both spent time at Lille together, before the latter joined Arsenal in a deal worth £23.14 million.

Recently, Arsenal were said to have gone back to Lille, making contact with the French champions over the availability of Sanches.

The 23-year-old was just eliminated from EURO 2020 with Portugal after their 1-0 defeat to Belgium, so he will now embark on his holidays.

However, it seems Gabriel is making a concerted effort to bring his friend to north London, by messaging him on Instagram.

What did Gabriel say?

When commenting on a post from Sanches, Gabriel simply wrote: ‘Come to Arsenal’.

Interestingly, Sanches replied positively to that comment.

The man who once cost Bayern Munich €80 million (£69 million) wrote in broken English: ‘I’m wait for your invitation’.

Now, that is hugely encouraging.

It might just be playful chatter among two friends, but for Sanches – a target for Arsenal – to say he’s waiting to be invited to the club is significant.

If he really is waiting, Mikel Arteta and Edu would be fools not to act on his comment.

The 30-cap Portugal international is one of the most unique midfielders in Europe.

He can combine great dribbling skills and a rocket of a long shot with tenacious tackling and an impressive change of pace.

Sanches is a real box-to-box player, in every sense.

For now, let’s see what the Arsenal fans on Twitter have been saying about the Instagram exchange…
