According to 90min, Arsenal are interested in signing Lille and Portugal dynamo Renato Sanches, who Liverpool are also keen on.

What’s the story?

Well, 90min believe Arsenal have made contact with Lille, and have asked to be kept informed about the 23-year-old’s future.

Sanches has appeared in all three of Portugal’s EURO 2020 games so far this summer, where he’s impressed with his intensity and passing skills.

Impressively, the €25 million (£21 million) maestro has registered a pass success rate of 91% at EURO 2020, completing 116/124 passes.

90min claim that sources close to Sanches feel he is keen to prove himself in the Premier League, after a woeful stint on loan at Swansea.

During his time with the Swans, the ex-Bayern Munich man was mocked after passing to an advertisement, which he believed to be a teammate.

Sanches also suffered relegation with Swansea.

Now, he has rebuilt his reputation, starring for Lille in 2020/21 as they beat Paris Saint-Germain to the Ligue 1 title.

If Mikel Arteta is to bring Sanches to the Emirates Stadium, he’ll have to fend off Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

According to CBS Sports, the Reds have made the 29-cap Portugal international a top target.

Liverpool are said to view Sanches as a potential replacement for Gini Wijnaldum, who left to join PSG on a free transfer.

In our view, this will be tough for the Gunners.

Liverpool can offer Sanches Champions League football, whereas Arsenal have no involvement whatsoever in Europe next season.

Whatever happens, it’s safe to say whoever lands the box-to-box midfielder will be getting a fine young player.
