Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to react after the Guardian revealed a ‘very unexpected’ statistic about Harry Winks.
What’s the story?
Well, the Guardian have published a feature praising Winks for his display in the 2-2 draw against Liverpool.
Interestingly, they also revealed that no Tottenham player made more forward passes than the 25-year-old against Jürgen Klopp’s side.
Winks made 24 forward passes, in a game where he defied criticism about his usually passive style of play.
The 10-cap England international has developed a reputation for being something of a sideways passer over the years.
Clearly, Antonio Conte has been working closely with Winks at Hotspur Way, as it seems he’s now reversing his negative ways of old.
The Tottenham No.8 even provided the through ball which saw Heung-min Son net the equaliser, after Alisson Becker got himself in a mess.
It was only the midfielder’s third Premier League start of the campaign too, so he did well to play so effectively with little rhythm under his belt.
Does Harry Winks have a future at Tottenham?

In our view, the Tottenham Academy graduate might have a chance of resurrecting his Spurs career, now Conte has arrived.
As WhoScored shows, Winks also made four interceptions against Liverpool, more than any other player on the pitch.
He is clearly desperate to impress Conte, and it seems to be working.
The Italian called Winks a “really good player” and also admitted he’s been impressed by the Hemel Hempstead-born maestro in training.

It represents a major revival from Winks, who was looking to leave Spurs at one point during Nuno Espirito Santo’s time in charge.
If the diminutive midfielder continues to deliver performances like his display against Liverpool, we see no reason why Conte would want to get rid of him.
For now, let’s see what the Tottenham fans on Twitter have been saying about Winks…
