Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to react after the club completed the signing of Pele McDermott from Luton Town yesterday.
Yes, you did read that correctly – his name is Pele.
The defender will be linking up with Tottenham’s Academy, where he’ll be a part of the Year 1 side from next season.
The youngster has arrived from Luton, a side who have a history of producing top-class prospects with Premier League potential.
The League One outfit are responsible for producing the likes of Leicester’s James Justin and Norwich right-back Max Aarons.
Funnily enough, the latter has previously been linked with a move to Tottenham. The Sunday Mirror revealed that Spurs had scouted the Canaries defender.

Given his status as an Academy player, not much has been documented about McDermott – the internet barely has any trace of his name.
However, for what’s it’s worth, there was one thing.
McDermott was part of Luton’s Under-11 side who pulled off a couple of impressive results at a tournament back in 2015, beating Borussia Dortmund and PSV Eindhoven.

Spurs fans probably won’t be seeing their new arrival in Jose Mourinho’s first team anytime soon, if we’re being realistic.
However, Luton’s record for producing young players is impressive, so McDermott’s progress is worth tracking for that reason alone.
Let’s see what the Tottenham fans on Twitter have been saying about his arrival…
