Tottenham’s form has been inconsistent of late

The vibes around Tottenham haven’t been all positive of late, but the club have attempted to promote a positive feeling with their latest tweet.

Footage of the squad training at Enfield on Wednesday morning was accompanied by the caption: “Peace, love and 𝙜𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙫𝙞𝙗𝙚𝙨 in training.”

While the vibes may be somewhat better following Sunday’s 2-0 win over West Brom, the run of three consecutive Premier League defeats prior to that result has left Jose Mourinho’s side sitting a lowly eighth in the table.

Ninth-placed Aston Villa are just one point behind with a game in hand, while Tottenham are four points off a Champions League place.

These supporters greeted the club’s tweet with a dose of cynicism.

Harry Kane’s return from injury against the Baggies may well point towards an upturn in the club’s form, and Mourinho enthused about his side’s spirit after welcoming his star man back into the fold.

As quoted by the official Tottenham website, the manager said: “I loved the attitude, the commitment, the togetherness, the desire to win. I loved that, part of football expectations, but in that emotional area, I think the boys were very, very good.

“At half-time we should have been winning but we weren’t, they coped well with that frustration, that pressure, they came to the second half to try to score and did.

“Then, in the last part of the game when they were more direct and tried to cause us problems, the boys coped well with that. I would say a good, solid performance, but especially a big heart from the players.”

His side are in FA Cup action this evening, travelling to Merseyside where they take on Everton in the fifth round of the competition.
