Tottenham Hotspur fans were left disappointed that Pierre Emile Hojbjerg was the only member of the squad to stand up to greet Antonio Conte, after footage emerged of him meeting the squad for the first time yesterday.
What’s the story?
Tottenham’s official website posted coverage of Conte walking in to greet his new players for the first time.
In the clip it was evident that Tottenham’s players were clearly excited to work with the Italian.
But it was only Hojbjerg who had the manners to get up and shake Conte’s hand.
The rest of Tottenham’s squad all remained seated while Conte went round the room to say hello to every player.
And while it was just a small touch, Spurs fans were pleased to see Hojbjerg’s actions.
Captain material?
Hojbjerg has developed into a real leader in Tottenham’s squad.
He is one of the most vocal players on the pitch, and his passionate performances have quickly made him a fans’ favourite.
He has also been a key part of Conte’s initial starting line-ups at Spurs.
Hojbjerg has started in both the games which Tottenham new boss has taken charge of so far.
The Dane has become one of the first names on the team sheet for Spurs since he moved, and his position in the team looks very secure at this point.
Hojbjerg and Tottenham will next be in action at the weekend, when they take on Leeds United on Sunday.
