Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been speaking to Danish media about Tottenham’s start to the season under Nuno Espirito Santo.
What’s the story?
Well, the £15m man commented on Tottenham’s dismal run of form throughout September, in which they were humiliated by rivals.
Spurs lost three London derbies in a row to Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Arsenal, conceding three goals in each defeat.
Speaking to Tipsbladet, Hojbjerg said: “Of course it meant a lot. It was important to get back on the right keel after conceding nine goals in three games. It is absolutely unacceptable, especially when you only score one goal yourself. It was not fun to be a part of.”
It’s good to see the £101,923-a-week man coming out and addressing the dismal run of form, like a leader should.
Too many players at Tottenham hide, and it’s about time more started to step up like Hojbjerg.
After a poor run of form on a personal level, the Dane scored a vital goal against Aston Villa to answer his critics – his teammates must start to show similar fight and resilience.
Nuno needs to help Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg settle at Tottenham

This sounds strange to say seeing as Hojbjerg has been at Tottenham since August 2020, but he hasn’t really had a settled midfield since his arrival.
Issues with Tanguy Ndombele – who now wants to leave, according to The Athletic – mean Hojbjerg hasn’t really been able to strike a relationship up with a midfield partner.
Harry Winks has been in and out of the XI, while Giovani Lo Celso can’t seem to stay fit.

Oliver Skipp has come in and impressed alongside Hojbjerg this season, and it’s important that Nuno leaves the pair in the side so they can strike up some chemistry.
In our view, too much chopping and changing is damaging – having a settled midfield pairing is just as important as a settled centre-back duo.
Hopefully, Skipp remains alongside Hojbjerg, and the pair can help Spurs have a successful campaign.
