Gary Neville has said on Sky Sports Premier League (10:56pm, January 23, 2023) that Liverpool would not hire Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte as their manager.
Neville does not think that Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona or Bayern Munich would take Tottenham boss Conte right now.
The former Manchester United defender made the comments about the Italian manager after Tottenham’s win against Fulham in the Premier League on Monday evening
The Sky Sports pundit believes that Tottenham and Conte are perfect for each other, and thinks that the former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss should sign a new contract with Spurs.
The future of Conte, who earns £15 million per year (£288,000 per week) as salary at Tottenham (The Telegraph) is wrapped up in uncertainty.
There is speculation that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is planning to bring back Mauricio Pochettino.
Liverpool won’t take Tottenham Hotspur’s Antonio Conte
Neville said about Conte: “Where is he going to go? Which club is going to have him? Tell me in England which club is going to have him?
Are Barcelona and Real Madrid going to have him? No.
“What club in Germany are going to have him? Are Bayern Munich going to have him? No.
“Are Liverpool, Chelsea, City, Manchester United going to have him? No.
“My point is he is at the best club he could possibly be at this moment in time.”
No Anfield move for Conte
In our view, Liverpool are not going to move for Antonio Conte.
Jurgen Klopp is not leaving Liverpool anytime soon, and when the German eventually leaves, we do not think that the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners will opt for the Tottenham Hotspur boss.
While Conte is a serial winner who has league titles with Juventus, Chelsea and Inter Milan, he is not very flexible with his tactics and his playing style is not hugely entertaining.
Moreover, Conte has not done much of note in the UEFA Champions League as a manager.
