As you may have heard, Brighton are interested in hiring Abel Ferreira after losing Graham Potter to Chelsea.
The 43-year-old has made a name for himself at Palmeiras, where he currently sits eight points clear at the top of the Brazilian Série A.
When first reporting the news, South American outlet UOL claimed that Ferreira would prefer to stay with Palmeiras and finish the campaign, where he could add to his five pieces of silverware.
So far, he has won the Copa Libertadores on two occasions, the Copa do Brasil, the Recopa Sul-Americana and the Campeonato Paulista.
Now, however, Rodrigo Coutinho has provided an interesting update.
What’s the story?
Well, the South American journalist believes Ferreira would actually be tempted by a move to the Amex Stadium, as it could potentially act as a springboard for his managerial career in Europe.
Brighton fans won’t enjoy reading this after what happened with Potter, but Coutinho seems to believe the main point of attraction for the 43-year-old would be the platform to encourage interest from England’s bigger clubs.

The journalist told UOL: “In the mind of European professional Abel Ferreira, I have no doubt that he prefers to go to the Premier League to train a smaller team.
“We live in Brazil and it’s difficult to have this notion of reality, but the Premier League is the main championship in the world, it’s the showcase, if he coaches Brighton, he faces Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United. If he stands out, he can get a bigger club, both from England and from another league.”
Ultimately, Brighton risk losing anyone they hire to a top six club – it is the nature of the industry, but at least it means those in charge are making the right decisions, and are helping the Seagulls grow.
Brighton need Abel Ferreira quickly
If Ferreira is the one to replace Potter, Brighton need to wrap up his appointment quickly.
There aren’t many games before the November World Cup for a new manager to implement his style, so if the Seagulls fail to hire someone soon, they could see their promising season begin to unravel.
Of course, the nature of Potter’s departure was sudden, and did not allow for the Seagulls to draw up a list of immediate replacements.
Hopefully, a solution can be found quickly.
