Paul Merson has told SportsKeeda that he is confident that Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips will not join Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
The former Arsenal star believes that due to the intense rivalry between Leeds and Manchester United, England international midfielder Phillips will not make the switch from Elland Road to Old Trafford.
The Sky Sports pundit, though, does expect the 26-year-old to leave Leeds if the Whites get relegated to the Championship.
The Mirror have reported that Manchester United want to sign the midfielder in the summer transfer window.
Merson on Kalvin Phillips from Leeds to Manchester United rumour
Merson told SportsKeeda: “Kalvin Phillips’ future has been a major talking point as he has been linked with moves to a handful of Premier League clubs.
“If Leeds stay up, he’ll stay, but if they get relegated, I think he’s a goner.
“One thing is for sure, though – he’s not signing for Manchester United! 100%, no chance I can see that happening considering the history between the two teams.”

Unlikely transfer
In our opinion, Kalvin Phillips is unlikely to leave Leeds United for Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
Phillips is a Leeds fan, and he will be well aware that he could damage his relationship with the Elland Road faithful if he moved to Old Trafford
We do not think that the Englishman will make the transfer.
It will be interesting to see what Phillips does if Leeds do survive in the Premier League on the final day of the season.
