Jose Enrique has said on Twitter that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool should sign Gabri Veiga, who has also been linked with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

The former Liverpool star is a fan of Veiga, and he believes that for €40 million (£35 million), the Celta de Vigo central midfielder would be “perfect” for Liverpool owners FSG.

The Spain Under-21 international has been linked with Liverpool as well as with Arsenal.

According to Cadena Ser, Liverpool are interested in signing Veiga in the summer transfer window.

AS have reported interest from Arsenal, Newcastle United and Manchester City in the youngster, adding that he has a release clause of €40 million (£35 million) in his contract.

Liverpool urged to sign Arsenal target Gabri Veiga

Enrique said: “It’s a player I like a lot. Nine goals in La Liga as a number 8. 20 years of age. €40 million (£35 million) release clause. I believe it’s a no-brainer.

“Obviously it will be other options out there, but definitely for the kind of player that we normally sign and obviously these owners normally like to go for I believe is the perfect it.”

HITC Verdict: Too expensive for Liverpool

In our view, Liverpool should not sign Gabri Veiga and should simply let Arsenal, Newcastle United or any other club sign the 20-year-old in the summer transfer window.

That Arsenal, Newcastle and Manchester United all are keen on the midfielder shows just how good he is and how highly he is rated in the footballing community.

And we believe that Veiga would be a good signing for Liverpool, but in the long run.

We cannot expect Veiga to hit the ground running at Liverpool.

After all, he is only 20.

What Liverpool need in the summer transfer window are established midfielders who can make an immediate impact at Anfield and can get into the first team straightaway.

For £35 million, Liverpool should be able to find more experienced midfielders than Veiga.
