Celtic defensive midfielder Nir Bitton is considering leaving the Hoops for good in the summer transfer window, according to The Daily Record.

The report has claimed that Bitton, who can also operate as a central defender, is considering returning to his native Israel this summer.

Celtic, who are on the verge of winning the Scottish Premiership title this season, reportedly have the option of activating another year on the current deal of the 30-year-old Israel international.

Maccabi Tel Aviv and Maccabi Haifa are interested in signing Bitton, according to The Daily Record, who have added that the midfielder cost £1 million in transfer fees when they signed him from Ashdod back in 2013.

Neil Lennon was then the manager of Celtic.

Nir Bitton will leave Celtic a hero

In our opinion, Bitton will leave Celtic a hero.

The 30-year-old has been superb for the Hoops over the years and has been a regular in the team.

Bitton has won the Scottish Premiership title seven times, the Scottish Cup on four occasions, and the Scottish League Cup as many as six times with the Hoops.

The midfielder has made 11 starts and 12 substitute appearances in the Scottish Premiership for Celtic under head coach Ange Postecoglou this season.

Bitton has scored one goal and given one assist in those games.
