Clinton Morrison highlighted how Davinson Sanchez’s defending hasn’t changed since leaving Tottenham Hotspur following Galatasaray’s 3-2 win at Manchester United in the Champions League.

On one hand, Davinson Sanchez provided an incredible two assists in the Champions League as Galatasaray piled more misery on Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United.

But as Clinton Morrison touched upon, the 27-year-old, who left Tottenham this summer, still has those error-prone traits to his defending.

The former Premier League striker thinks Galatasaray’s summer capture had a ‘nightmare’ moment which allowed Rasmus Højlund to score his second goal of the game, as he told Soccer Special on Sky Sports (03/10/23 at 9:25 pm).

Davinson Sanchez was flat on the floor as Manchester United’s new star raced through to score and put his team ahead in an enthralling game.

Luckily for him, both sides continued to trade blows, which in the end, resulted in the Turkish giants walking away with a deserved three points.

Davinson Sanchez’s defending

“It’s Højlund, the boy is a top striker,” said Morrison. “Sanchez. Having a nightmare like he was at Tottenham. Slips over and he can’t recover.

“You can say it’s a greasy top, but he has to move his feet. And Højlund, with the defender coming across, shows great pace and once he gets into that position, he dinks it over the goalkeeper. Fantastic goal.”

Davinson Sanchez in the Champions League

Spurs missed out on Europe altogether last season, with Sanchez playing his part in that downfall, including getting booed by his own fans.

It was obvious to all that he was no longer good enough for Spurs or even a top-half Premier League team.

Either way, Spurs fans must be scratching their heads and wondering how he has returned to the Champions League before them.
