As we type, Mikel Arteta and the Arsenal first-team are currently preparing for the 2022/23 Premier League campaign in Germany.

The Gunners already recorded a 5-1 win over Ipswich as part of their preparations before jetting off to Germany, where Gabriel Jesus in particular has impressed the likes of Ian Wright and Gabriel Martinelli.

What’s the story?

Well, in behind-the-scenes footage posted by Arsenal, we can hear Wright praising the £45m signing from Manchester City.

After watching the Brazilian in training, the Arsenal legend said: “Some nice finishing there Jesus man, nice finishing.”

In response, Martinelli quipped: “That’s why we bought him!”

You can see footage of the interaction below.

Wright laughed in response, although the Arsenal No.35 is spot on – Arteta needs a deadly finisher, and that is exactly what he went out into the transfer market to get.

Throughout his career, Jesus has scored 116 goals in 285 appearances, proving to be a threat in the box wherever he has gone.

Even when spending most of his time on the wing last season, the 25-year-old still managed to score 13 goals, while also providing 12 assists, which is an excellent return.

Gabriel Jesus will take Arsenal up a gear

In our view, Arsenal would’ve secured a place in the Champions League if Jesus was at the Emirates Stadium last season.

Despite finishing fifth, the Gunners actually played well on a regular basis last term, but some questionable finishing from the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette let them down.

Now, with Jesus in attack, and the likes of Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and Martinelli supplying him, we are expecting big things from the north Londoners next season.

If he continues to spend time in the presence of Wright, Arsenal’s new No.9 will also surely pick up a few invaluable tips.
