PSV Eindhoven attacker and rumoured Arsenal target Cody Gakpo has Manchester United signing Antony will have no role on his future amid links to the Premier League.
Speaking to ESPN via Fabrizio Romano, the 23-year-old winger was asked about how Antony’s reported €100m (£84m) transfer to United will affect his future, with Gakpo insisting that the Brazilian’s move to Old Trafford means nothing for his own future despite being linked to Erik Ten Hag’s side.
Arsenal are also reportedly interested in Gakpo with Mikel Arteta looking to sign a versatile wide-attacker before the closure of the transfer window on Thursday, and with United now on the verge of bringing Antony to the Premier League, the Gunners are now in the clear to move for the PSV star.
Indeed, the youngster could be ideal for the north London side given his age, record in the Eredivisie and his ability to play on both wings, and United’s move to sign Antony means that the pool of interested clubs has reduced considerably, with Arsenal now arguably the favourites for Gakpo.
With just four days of the window left, time is running out for Arsenal to sign another wide-attacker, and with United winning the race for Antony, the Gunners should be looking at Gakpo as an option even though the winger was instant that the Brazilian’s move to Manchester will play no role on his own future.
Gakpo said when asked about United closing in on signing Antony: “Antony to Man Utd? Nice for him, but for me and my future, I think that has no influence. It’s like a puzzle so in the next days I will see which puzzle fits best, for me, it’d be certainly not bad to stay at PSV. We’ll see.”
Arsenal should move to sign Gakpo with Antony heading to United

Arsenal have been linked with numerous wingers over the summer, yet links to Gakpo never seem to fade away, and because of this and with United inching closer to signing Antony, the Gunners should move for the Dutch international in the closing days of the transfer window.
Depth out wide is a priority for Arsenal, and with competition now non-existent for Gakpo, Arteta simply has to move in for the PSV star in a move that could play a massive role in the north London side ending their top-four curse come the end of this season.
