Kyle Walker has said that the best manager he has ever worked with is a straight shootout between Manchester City tactician Pep Guardiola and former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino.

A claim was made by the Athletic journalist David Ornstein on Saturday that Spurs had unanimously decided to bin a move for the Argentine coach.

In fact, Alan Brazil revealed that the Lilywhites legend was ‘disappointed’ that he had not even been approached by Daniel Levy to take on the job.

As Tottenham Hotspur remain persistent in their search for a new manager, Kyle Walker, who signed for City for £53 million (Guardian) back in 2017 has put Mauricio Pochettino in esteemed company alongside Pep Guardiola.

After all, Kyle Walker has said that the best manager he has ever worked with is either Pep Guardiola at Manchester City or Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham.

“It’s between Pochettino and Pep”, he said on the official Manchester City Podcast.

“I think Pep has evolved my game and my understanding in terms of wasting energy where I don’t need to end it. I signed as a wing-back and now I’m in a back three. Would I have been able to do that with England if I was still under the Pochettino system? No, I would have been too attacking.”
